We’ve just had another bloody weekend … so we ask the same questions we asked last time … “what can we do to cut down on the number of deaths on our roads?” “how can we get people to slow down?”. Give it a week and it’s all forgotten, till the next bloody weekend when [...]

Just happened to be watching Seoige & O’Shea today, while relaxing after a late lunch. They had a brief discussion on the Irish language and one of the guests was one Paul MacDonnell from the Open Republic Institute who should be no stranger to those with any knowledge of the political side of the Irish [...]

Some Sinn Féiners called ’round to the house the other night. I was expecting some of the parties to start calling soon and SF were among those I was going to yell “feck off!” at. But damn them to hell they were so damn nice that I couldn’t but listen to what they had to [...]

Two Garda related stories in the news over the weekend. The first concerns the controversial Garda Reserve, the first batch of 40 Reserves started training last Saturday in Templemore. There has been a huge response to the drive to recruit Reserve Gardaí with over 6.6k applying to join so far. Personally I am against the [...]

What’s wrong with these people? Are they deliberately trying to be tossers? I don’t understand why they can’t just report the facts to us straight rather than push their own agenda, whatever that is. When they interviewed Niall Quinn prior to Sunderland naming Keane as manager they kept badgering Quinn asking the same questions over [...]

I don’t know, i’m just not convinced despite the sob story. Cynical Maca has a mistrust of politicians and finds it hard to believe there are any decent politicians in this country. Politician + money gifts/loans = yer average corrupt Irish politician? I dunno. What do you think? Lines are open!

…that’s what we’ll be called at official European Union meetings in the future, since Irish will be an official and working language from the start of next year! p.s. to clarify what should be obvious, name change applys to signage and name plates!
