A Ecuadorian ship sank yesterday killing more than 100 people. Now, I get most of my news from BBC World, excellent site in my opinion, and it just seemed to me that this story didn’t get half the attention that the plane crash in Greece did. Is it the fact that the people who drowned were illegal immigrants? Or non-whites? Or am I just being a cynical fucker.
p.s. you’ll notice the same level of attention (or lack off) the next time a boat sinks in India, which appears to happen quite often.

But have you ever learned about the tens of boats that every year wreck in the Mediterranean Sea off from Sicily and the hundreds of african or middle-east illegal immigrants that die in those disasters?
We do know about them, because we live here and we have to cope with it daily, but I’m quite sure that around the world nobody is aware of this.
I guess that’s sort of my point Antonio, we don’t know about all these tragedies because they don’t get the same news coverage as something like a plane full of European tourists.
