Rep. Ireland vs France

Listening to our boys online via RTÉ. C’mon lads!!!

Rep. Ireland 0 – 1 France (FT)

HT: 0-0 A tough first half with chances on both sides. 2 yellow cards for Ireland which means Roy Keane & Morrison miss the next game. It’s still all to play for but one goal from either side may just decide it.

FT: 0-1 A goal by Henry and the worst result for Ireland, we just couldn’t find the French net. Realistically that ends our chances of qualifying for the world cup. Bastards.
Reid picked up a yellow which puts him out of the next game … not that it really matters now. I suppose we always knew we’d rue the points dropped in both games against Israel.

  1. commiserations to my friends and neighbours.. however I’m still feeling nauseous with delight from the norn iron result YEOGH!

  2. Great result for the North alright. A bit of a fuke result but deserved on the day. Enjoy the celebrations!

  3. I think we’ll make the play-offs if we get through the Cyprus game with 3 points. I’m more worried about that game than the Switzerland one since Keane, Reid and Morrisson will be missing. I agree though that France should win the group but things would get very dodgy if Switzerland were to beat France…

  4. “Fluke result” my arse! Great timing (England coming off a pair of poor performances, Northern Ireland on a high after beating Azkaban’s team of eleven Dementors), and damn hard work by the back four.

NI deserved it on the day and all credit to them, but the worlds #116 (now #101) beating the worlds #7 (now #11) when they haven’t even scored a goal against them in 25 years or beaten them in 33 years (or at home in 78 years) is a “fluke resut”. But as I said, they did the job on the day and fair dues to them for that.
