If the worst comes to worst and some huge disaster befalls us, such as some psycho called George dropping nukes and ya have to leave home in a hurry, what do you bring with you? Ok, this doesn’t apply to Ireland so much because …. well … where can ya run to? If any nukes happen to fall on our wee isle (not likely) we’re pretty much fucked I reckon, and I don’t see any major hurricanes heading our way in the near future. But it’s an interesting question nonetheless. The New York times has an article on “how to prepare for one really quick getaway” and they suggest making a list of important things like credit card numbers, scanning birth certs, marriage license etc, and saving it all on a USB drive. Not a bad idea I suppose (encryption & waterproofing would be vital) indeed i’m sure such a thing might have come in very handy for many of those fleeing the hurricanes in the States. On the other hand, passports and relevant documents stuffed into a waterproof bag might be just as good.
Personally, if we ever have to leg it, i’ll be bringing weapons (replica Samurai sword and a hurley) to protect my family so if ya even look sideways at me i’ll get medieval on your ass! You’ve been warned!
