Gerry O’Sullivan is doing a review of the browsers he uses. It’s something I had intended to do but never found the energy. So far he has reviewed Safari [Safari home] and Camino [Camino home] (both Mac only) and i’m sure there’s more to come. Btw if you’re a Mac user Microsoft actually recommends that you find an alternative to Internet Exploder.
Regarding browser options, there’s quite a few available and worth checking out. The best (that I have tried on Windows anyway) would be Firefox, Netscape or Opera. There’s also Firefox clones such as Flock or K-Meleon if you want to be different, and of course the Mac options above.
Update: Review 3: Shiira.
Thanks — the reviews are reallly good.
I use PCs for work and a Mac at home. Cionaodh is a Mac purist and the computer runs on OS 9 — though we have OSX in case we need it for something, which is rarely. We tend to use Mozilla. (However, for those OS 9 holdouts, IE works just fine in OS 9.)
Hi Nicole,
I’m a windows guy, I haven’t be brave enough yet to make the switch to Mac
I’m also a dedicated Firefox user, especially since it’s the only browser (that I know of) which is available as Gaeilge.
In addition to everything else you’ve mentioned, I keep a copy of “iCab” handy for testing out particularly wonky webpages. It’s not very good for everyday browsing, however.
Never heard of iCab. I checked their website, it looks good in the screenshots anyway.
