The draw for the Euro 2008 qualifiers has taken place. In Rep.Ireland’s (24, FIFA ranking) group (D) … Wales (71), Cyprus (96), San Marino (155), Slovakia (44), Germany (16) and the Czech Republic (2). Not as bad as I expected, it’s almost manageable … apart from the Czechs.

Not that I’ll get a ticket as I’ve never been to any away match before, but I’d like to go over to Ireland when Wales play the Republic in Dublin. Nice away destinations even if neither of our countries qualify. (talk about optimism!)
The games should be in Croke Park, which is the GAA’s HQ and a fantastic stadium. It’d be worth trying to get a ticket to the game, there’ll be a great atmosphere at it. I’ll try and go myself if I can.
That’s the great thing about this campaign being played in Croker. There will be nearly twice the number of tickets available than normal. (We can’t use Hill 16 tho’)
Can’t share your optimism maca. I can see us losing to Wales and definetly losing to Germany. And as for this Staunton/Robson stuff – don’t get me started. At least we didn’t draw England in Croke Park – it would be nice to have some seats not in flames by the end of the game.
In typical R.O.I. fashion we’ll maul the Czechs and lie down and die against San “Mentalists”Marino.I also hear that Roy Race was approached by the FAI.Apparently you can fly to Dublin direct from Melchester on Ryanair these days.

As much as I dislike out new choice of manager i’m going to put my faith in him. If we play our best perhaps we can challenge for 2nd place. But I am been very optimistic.

Don’t say that, might just come through.
