04/27/2004: "China won't be bullied"
One of the very few things I respect about China is the fact that it stands up to the US and UK and says what it likes.
It's recent decision, ruling out full democracy for HK is wrong, plain and simple, but China has stood up to the UK and US by telling them to mind their own business.
As the Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing told reporters:
"We are Chinese, are you clear on that? Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong."
"Do you think Hong Kong was democratic under British rule? Did the British raise concerns about that? Did the Americans raise concerns? No. Why don't you take a look at this double standard?"
