05/13/2004: "War against the French"

The draw for the 2007 World Cup was made in Dublin yesterday and the groups have been announced. Ireland is set to do battle with the French in Pool D. Argentina will likely take the "Americas 1" position making a very difficult group for Ireland.
The French are currently ranked 4th in the world with Ireland 5th but the French are much stronger than Ireland and could be the team to beat in the World Cup. [rankings].

If you haven't already heard, Ireland great Mick Doyle died on Monday following a car crash. A sad loss.
