06/26/2004: "Has Irish no other future but to die?"

A French student is investigating the current situation and future of Irish language and is looking for feedback on what you think the future holds for the Irish language...

AN É BÁS AMHÁIN TODHCHAÍ NA GAEILGE?

Is macléinn Francach mé atá tar éis bliain a chaitheamh ag freastal ar
Ollscoil Chorcaigh ag baint iarchéim amach. Díríonn mo thaighde ar
shuíomh na Gaeilge, an dearcadh atá ag Éireannaigh uirthi, conas a
bhaineann tú úsáid as an nGaeilge ó lá go lá agus do bharúil ar a
todhchaí.

Cabhraigh liom i mo thaighde: cruthaigh dom nach bhfuil an teanga ag dul
i léig agus nach caillfear go hiomlán riamh í. Fanaim ar bhur n-aiseolas
(Béarla agus Fraincis amháin le bhur dtoil)

HAS IRISH NO OTHER FUTURE BUT TO DIE?

I am a French student who spent one year in the University of Cork for
my Postgraduate studies. My research focuses on the situation of the
Irish language, the way that you see it, how you use it in your everyday
life and how you see the future of this language.

Help me in my research by proving that Irish is not declining and that
it will never completely disappear. I wait for your reactions (English
and French only please).
