09/20/2004: "Fahrenheit 1 Million: The temp at which the web explodes"

In just under 100 hours Mozilla have achieved their target of 1 million downloads of the Firefox browser. They had set a deadline of 10 days in their 'match to 1 million campaign' so to achieve it with 6 days to go was amazing. Next target 2 million!

I asked this on Slug but nobody answered...is there an OCR tool that can cope with fadas ?
I have Abbyy Finereader 5 , which is better than 4, but hopeless with fadas.

OCR as in "Optical Character Recongnition", for scanners etc?

There's bound to be a tool available which supports French for example, but i've never used one so don't know any trade names.

I'll have a look on the net to see what I can find.

Do you use "search & replace"?

maca, Dé Máirt (Tue), Meán Fómhair (Sep) 21st,

Is that a word tool ?

Madradin Ruad, Dé Céadaoin (Wed), Meán Fómhair (Sep) 22nd,

Ctrl + F
In Word it brings up the Find prompt, the second tab is "Replace" so you can scan the entire document and replace one 'string' (word, letter, sentence, symbol etc) with another.

It's not a perfect solution but it works. I use it all the time in web pages etc
