Google Adsense
I signed up for that Google AdSense today. My first attempt to put advertising on my site was a waste of time. Personally I hate advertising on any site and I tried my best to keep ads off my site but with rising costs and all that I just gotta try to make a few quid back.
At least with Adsense I can disguise the ads somewhat so they don't look too out of place. more..

Windows in Welsh
First news I received this Monday mornin' is that Windows XP will be localized for Welsh..how about that boy?
Further reading though tells us that it will only be about 80% of a translation, and it looks like it will only be XP Pro...typical MS, still better than a kick in the nuts.
For techies..it's the LIP MS will use for Welsh not the MUI. more..

Níl scéal nua agam
Níl scéal nua ar bith agam inniu.
Tá droch lá agam inniu san obair. Bhí triúr innealtóirí ag déanamh triail ar meaisín "injection moulding" anseo.
Anois, tá tuirse orm agus tá m'óbair críochnaithe, b'fhéidir go rachaidh mé abhaile gan mhoill.

SSI Developer feature - heads-up
Just a quick note..nothing confirmed yet but we have been contacted by a UK-based monthly web design magazine. They want to feature a number of css templates and tutorials from SSI-Developer in their cover CD and perhaps cúpla focal in the magazine itself.
We're a tad happy with this news this morning. Will confirm more at a later date

A visionary for Ulster
...wanted Bono.
Some chance. A 'romantic' notion I suppose but to think that 'Ulster', Northern Ireland to be more precise, could produce a visionary in the same league as Bono's inspiration MLK is well...ridiculous. I mean, who the heck is there that could even lick the boots of MLK? Perhaps in an alternate dimension... more..

Bomb Alerts in schools
More bomb alerts at schools in Belfast. Bit sickening isn't it? They should be teaching the kids respect and understanding with a view to healing some of the pain caused by the last 30 odd years of violence. This'll surely help. more..

Sick of it all
It's so easy to get utterly sick of the situation in the North of Ireland. Dropping by once again to my primary source of information on Northern Ireland we find many intelligent and knowledgable people resorting to the usual routine of blaming the other side and turning a blind eye to what their own side is doing. And this applies to both sides.

Letter to the Taoiseach
I received this request (in Irish and English) to send a
letter to the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, asking to have Irish be made one of
the 20 Official languages of the EU which it is currently expected to not
be (forgive me if this was posted before, and I missed it):
"A Chara,
Ni fada go mbeidh 20 teanga oifigiuil ag an Aontas Eorpach. Ni bheidh
Gaeilge san aireamh.
Soon there will be 20 Official languages in the EU. Irish will not be one
ofthem.
De réir mar a mheadaionn tionchar an AE ar ar saol beidh an-bhrú
artheangacha nach teangacha oifigiúla den AE iad.
As the influence exerted by the EU on our lives increases, languages
thatare not Official EU Languages will be put under great pressure.
Cuir litir chuig an Taoiseach, Tithe an Rialtais, Baile Átha Cliath 2. Ni
gádon Rialtas ach é a iarraidh do ndeanfar teanga oifigiúil den AE den
Ghaeilge:-
The Govt. only has to ask and Irish will be made one of the official
languages.
tuilleadh eolais/further info: www.cnag.ie
Scaip an scéal le do thoil. Please spread the word."
In the extended section is a sample letter in Irish and English. You don't have to be a
fluent Irish speaker to want Irish to be an Official EU Language, and feel
free to use the English version of the letter. Just sign the letter and mail the Taoiseach!

69038 Sigs
69038 signatures so far for the petition to make Irish an Official EU language!!
That's not bad I reckon consider it's not really an "official petition" or anything but was actually started by a Finnish Gaeilgeorí.

What is bilingualism?
Excellent short piece of work here on Bilingualism, i haven't read it in depth but at first glance it looks really good. It not only explains what bilingualism is but also gives good information on strategies for introducing a second language to a child.
Those of you with kids may know this but the context in which a child learns a second or third language is vitally important. Generally each parent acts as a context for the language they speak, so if 1 parent suddenly introduces another language they could confuse the shit out of the child.
I can advise more if needed? As I have a bit of experience on this now ;-)
check out the article.

The Saville Inquiry is still ongoing of course, just in case yer forgettin it. According to UTV it will have cost over GB£155 million and will have interviewed more than 900 witnesses! Savage!
With 40 or so witnesses left it won't be too long before we get the report. The results will hardly be too surprising though. It's worth going through some of the transcripts if you have time, interesting reading. more..

Paisley rugby Protests
Paisley has to be one of the most whinging people in Northern Ireland. The fucker is never happy, he has to be complaining about something and it this case it's about playing rugby on a sunday!!
I mean, what the fuck is his problem that he has to complain about the smallest little things?? Just because he may not agree doesn't mean he can spoil it for others by protesting when they are only trying to enjoy a match.
It's good to know at least that there's 22000 who certainly don't agree with him and who turned up to watch Ulster kick ass!!!

Blair admits no wpns
Tony Blair has admitted that he did not know if Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction at the time of invading Iraq. And now he's not so confident that they will find anything there. Well hello!!! Wasn't it obvious all along that they would find sweet fuck all. The war was never about WMD and Sadmans ability to launch nuclear strikes in 45 minutes!! Usual story, it was about greed and power, lapdog Blair following brainless Bush on his quest to free the world of opression and tyranny i.e. obtain world power for the US.
